A gravity block puzzle game where players must "break through" the levels

Breakthrough is a Tetris-like arcade game where instead of clearing lines, players must strategize and use Boom Blocks and Minos to make their way through the wall. Each mino is a shape made of six blocks that may have a Boom Block attached to it when generated. When a Mino is placed on the board, Boom Blocks are triggered and explode the surrounding area in various patterns. The player's goal is to break through the generated wall and reach the bottom, achieving a breakthrough!

I collaborated with Frank Alfano, a game designer/developer to make this project. I was responsible for the visuals, art, and UI elements as well as contributing to the overall game design. Breakthrough was submitted in the RIT 2023 Game Showcase and Expo and was awarded the Game Feel category winner. We are currently still developing and editing the game with hopes to release it on Steam!
